MARSHSEIS MINI CHALLENGE. Beyond the Wormhole.

There is NO SUCH THING AS A ROT FREE MINI.

Its been a while since our last post and further to our last lesson learned "There is no Such Thing as a Rot Free Mini" Marshseis go beyond the wormhole and in the words of Dean Marshall. "When you're faced with this degree of rot you've just got to get real bold with the grinder". Never a truer word spoken!

I might add its a grinder fitted with an ultra thin cutting disc and we've found that to be the most effective way to get rid of the rot. Chop where you can and sort out the spot welds later.

One thing did strike me and that was the closer to the battery which on a Mini is in the boot/trunk the more severe the degree of corrosion. I wonder if an insulated earth or negative fitted on the car would slow down the rate of decay. With all grounds returning through the car body to the negative battery terminal there's gotta be some element of galvanic corrosion in the mixing pot there somewhere. A bit more research on that me thinks for when we make and install the new wiring harness.

If you find a Bug Hole....Nuke It.

Words from one of my favourite movies and nuking could be construed as a bit harsh but anyone stumbling upon this companion bin could be forgiven for thinking they'd come across a bugs nest. If you want to see how marshseis deal with a bug hole watch the next slide.

There's a hole in my MINI....

Yes that's some pretty radical cutting out but to use another Marshseis Maxim.... "THE ROT STOPS HERE". So it's to the phone and start ordering new body panels, and I'd recommend to anyone restoring a mini to spend that little extra and buy the genuine heritage body panels, that few extra quid will pay dividends in the end.

Fits like a Glove.

Well that's the first panel offered up and it fits like a glove. For the sharp eyed amongst you.... you could be forgiven for thinking a rat had been nibbling on the edge of the door step above the panel. Well don't panic we're going to change that but right now its holding the shape of the doorway. If you want to see how marshseis are going to weld up this complete body and prevent it from warping then keep watching the blog.

Pic of the Week.

That's about it for another week some radical cutting but good to see some new steel ready to go in.

For all those still trying to guess at and identify the intended power plant....it remains "WAY ABOVE TOP SECRET" and no its not as one guy suggested a scooter engine donated from a Vespa scooter....no where near green enough but we love to hear the guesses anyway.

Keep watching the BLOG and catch ya next time!
