It’s been a while since our last BLOG but hopefully the wait has served only to focus and intensify your anticipation.
Finally we come to fruition as we concentrate on the remedy to our first lesson learned (There is no such thing as a rot free Mini). Its been a long haul but finally this is what its all been about and no end of cutting, drilling, grinding and welding finally gets us to the point where we can trial fit the rear floor pan heel plate that serves most essentially as a foundation for the rear sub frame. This has to be solid to take the awesome amount of power that we plan to be laid down through it.

A before and after shot of the rear kick plate, pretty much exemplifies the scale and scope of work that has been required to return this body shell back to operational functionality and make stronger than when it was new. This is where the fun starts now, as once we have a shell capably of taking the power increase we can start to plan the way ahead for fitting the new power unit, designing a new sub frame to take the radically different power unit and squeezing it all pretty much into a shoe box. Oh what fun we’ll have.

Before and after the step going in, which has to be kept in place until the main sill and floor is welded in to retain the shape and dimensions of the door opening.

For ease of removal and installation of the sills the main structural cross member needs to be cut and then the piece welded back in.

That about wraps it up for another BLOG but planning ahead we will start putting out a blog more ofter but with less content. Little and often.....sure I've heard that somewhere before. All the best and be sure to catch our next BLOG.
