Objective-2 Make Ready the Engine.

As you will have seen from yesterday's blog our ride height is now established which means we can now focus our attention on making the classic shell ready to receive the donor engine. Lots of things to check first as there's no sense banging away only to find out later something crucial has been overlooked.

So foremost in our thinking..... Firstly... "There can be no compromise, the original classic mini suspension geometry must remain"... Secondly... "The finished vehicle has to have the comfort, quality and performance of a modern fast road car" and Thirdly "Everything must work and look as if it has been designed for, and purpose built for, the classic mini shell.

Now we have to get our thinking caps on and then some!

No sense in starting with the engine installation until we've verified exhaust location. It must have enough ground clearance and clearance to the body to achieve our desired effect, as we not only want the car to look right, we want it to sound right too. Something akin to a diving Spitfire that will go from purring like a pussy cat, to growling like an angry lion and of course do it all within legal limits. So when it comes to creating the right sound as well as the right look, I believe our choice of a centre mount, straight through, twin duck tail, big bore end can should produce our desired effect nicely.

So there it is, the old and the new lined up and ready to go, ready to be married, merged and morphed together to form one truly awesome vehicle that we hope will be second to none.

Let the MISSION begin!!!

And HEY-PRESTO as if by magic the engine appeared, or at least is removed from the donor MINI. A painstaking process indeed with every connection, pipe, and cable marked so as to make final assembly so much the easier. Now the fun begins :-)

That's about all for this blog....All the best and take care and be sure to keep an eye out for our next blogs where you'll find out exactly how we got on with "Creating a Time Machine".
